Code of Conduct in Disaster Response Urban and Architectural Planning Perspective in İstanbul

İstanbul is considered one of the most vulnerable metropolitan areas for natural disasters, especially earthquakes. Although, it has taken advanced steps in disaster preparedness and early warning, still faces many problems related to urban planning, architectural design buildings, due absence clear specific planning control system requirements disaster. From perspective this study investigates dominant features shaping elements İstanbul, while focusing on main factors creating current situation. In addition, focuses analyzing both applications future strategies, like transformation projects, which are being implemented mitigate effects disasters. For purpose, some key parameters such as high population density districts, building heights road width ratios, close-interference between industrial residential areas, well public private buildings life cycle investigated. Moreover, standardization implementations evaluated. study, a mixed analytical method (qualitative quantitative) used, including statistics surveys, collect analyze data from different resources. Then comparative approach applied conclude results. Five case studies; namely Esenler bus station, Fatih, İkitelli, Zeytinburnu Başakşehir presented pilot projects better understanding their conditions generalize results over city. The selected samples lay difficulty evacuating rescuing people during after seek propose amendments existing status suggest new planning.
